“What does it mean” provides the answers to the many queries regarding the sometimes complex terminology used in the Education System. The aim of this 58 page A5 handbook is to de-mystify the acronyms and phrases so that everybody concerned - either as Parent, Governor, Teacher, Senior Student or anyone involved with education - can understand more easily each other’ s language. Partnership in schools is vital if a smooth running, happy and fruitful outcome of the children’s all round education is to be achieved. Governors share responsibility within schools with Headteachers, the latter making the day-to-day decisions. There is a varying amount of communication and consultation between the DfEE, LEAs, Governors, Heads, Teachers and their Unions, and Parents, who bear the ultimate responsibility for their own children’s education. In order to exercise choice and responsibility on behalf of their children, parents and lay people have to be well informed rather than being excluded by expressions which can only be decoded by experts. |
